Growing up in Byron Bay along the Northern NSW coastline in Australia, Craig’s journey into photography began with a simple yet profound gift from his parents—a disposable waterproof camera at the age of five. While other children his age delved into comics, Craig found himself captivated by the early editions of National Geographic. At the tender age of 13, he invested all his savings in a 35mm SLR, a pivotal move that would shape his future.
Without formal training, Craig dedicated himself to mastering the art of underwater photography. In 2004, he made a life-altering decision to pursue photography professionally, marking a significant milestone in his careers trajectory. Today, Craig’s fine art photography provides a distinctive perspective on the world around us, primarily focusing on marine and adventure imagery. His work aims to forge a connection between viewers and the natural environment by presenting subjects in their raw, natural state, often turning the ordinary into extraordinary through abstract portrayals that are both captivating and aesthetically pleasing.
As a Sony Ambassador, Craig’s work takes him on exhilarating journeys to various corners of the globe, seeking new adventures and unique encounters. He collaborates with renowned entities such as National Geographic, Tourism Australia, and Disney, showcasing his talent on diverse platforms. Notably, Craig served as the key art photographer for James Cameron’s National Geographic series “Secrets of the Octopus,” which premiered on April 20, 2024, marking another milestone in his illustrious career and is also in the middle of production with Chris Hemsworth for the series Limitless II.
